What I am Giving Up and What I am Limiting By No Longer Using Phones – Olatorera Oniru

I have been using phones for almost 20 years, like many people. Feels very exciting and empowering to say: No more.

Benefits of No longer using a phone:

More time with people I love and meet.

My children’s already increasing like for phones will be limited.

No more social media. Still active on Linkedin but not for “digital socializing”. All socials will be in person and lightly via email moving forward.

No more payments to Tmobile, Glo, MTN and Airtel (Yes, I had 4 active sim cards).

I will enjoy my vacations a lot more. Picturing my self in a resort without any mobile phone feels great already.

No more selfies. See my real beauty physically. I will enjoy outings without the need to document every facial angle.

No fears of crashing while driving and using phones. Even better, I don’t need to drive myself. I don’t need Google maps.

More savings in so many ways – too many to mention!

Better Health I believe. Will expatiate more on this in future articles. Surely I now have more time to workout and eat better.

Less Google-ing. More time reading the best books. Filtering the amount of information I need.

My time better planned – More hours to spend on greater things daily.

What I will miss by no longer using a phone:

Nothing. No kidding.

Okay maybe the quick dissemination of information. But hey, email still works as greatly. And rapid dissemination of information (images, alerts etc) can continue to be done via other people who still use phones.

I’ve never needed to call 911, I don’t expect to need to call 911 now that I don’t have a phone. Besides, I’m never alone. I’m around people who use phones every minute. And I don’t expect their lives to change as drastically as I changed mine.
