Trump-Putin Truce Plan Could Cement Putin’s Territorial Gains

Bloomberg reports that U.S. and Russian officials are negotiating a Trump-Putin truce that would formalize Russian control over occupied territories including parts of eastern Ukraine and Crimea. While still unconfirmed, the plan could be unveiled at a Trump–Putin summit potentially held in the UAE. The White House has downplayed the report, offering no official details; neither Russia nor Ukraine has issued a statement. Analysts caution that recognizing gains may legitimize aggression and reduce prospects for Ukraine’s recovery. Ukrainian leadership remains skeptical and likely to resist concessions perceived as undermining sovereignty.
