The internet as we know it today did not just come to be. It actually has gone through two iterations and currently is in transition to the third, Web3
This was the first iteration. It was significant for being the bases of HTML, URLs and HTTP technologies; and the introduction of web browsers. Webpages, however were not as dynamic and interactive as they are today.
The second iteration of the web, and the internet as we’ve known it for two decades; incorporating more dynamic web contents, social media, mobile internet access, etc., and mention the amount of revenue and global reach it creates for businesses. E-learning, remote jobs and the likes are attributes of the success and sheer necessity of the Web 2.0 today.
We are currently in the early phase of this tech development. Web 3.0 emphasizes on decentralization incorporating various blockchain technology; artificial intelligence and ubiquitous computing. With decentralization, Web3 envisions a world where data ownership control is no longer restricted to tech giants like Google and internet users would have control over their own data, where artificial intelligence, AI, allowing computer devices to perform tasks, seemingly mimicking intelligent beings like humans will thrive and information processing is embedded into everyday objects and activities – ubiquitous
