Efetobore Efe Sodje is a fairly well known Nigerian Diasporan from an accomplished family. The former footballer played professional football for several English Football Clubs. Efe, as he is more popularly known, mostly played as a central defender. As some of the highlights of his football career, he represented Nigeria in the 2000 African Cup of Nations and the 2002 World Cup.  He has several siblings including Bright Sodje, Akpo Sodje, Sam Sodhje, Eseyoma Sodje-waugh and Stephen Sodje.

Why Are 3 of The Sodje Brothers Sentenced To At Least 18 Months In Jail?

In 2019, a Judge sentenced Stephen, Bright and Efe to 18+ months in jail for corruption related charges. A fourth brother, Akpo Sodje escaped prosecution by running off to Dubai, UAE. The jailed brothers were accused of personally siphoning funds meant for charity through the
Sodje Sports Foundation they created. For instance, they setup black-tie events to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity. None of the funds actually went to charity but were personally spent by the brothers.
