48-Hour Escape Route Announced as Fighting Deepens in Gaza City

Israel has opened a temporary evacuation corridor from Gaza City as its ground offensive intensifies. The military said civilians have a 48-hour window to use Salah al-Din Street to move south toward designated “humanitarian zones.” Leaflets and radio messages urged residents to leave immediately. Many, however, remain reluctant, fearing renewed bombardment, inadequate shelter, and the prospect of permanent displacement. Aid agencies warn that southern areas are already overstretched, with critical shortages of water, food, and medical care. The move underscores both the deepening humanitarian crisis and Israel’s escalating push into the heart of Gaza City.
