Following the news of Bill and Melinda Gate divorce, that was announced May 3, has been named one of the most expensive divorce of all time.

The 27 year-old marriage split was announced via Twitter, however, the couple stated that they will continue to work together on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which funds program in global health, gender equality, education and other causes.
This will not be the first big divorce to be announced, below are some of the most expensive divorce of all time
1. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: the couple have six children and divorced after 11 years of being together. Report state that over $1 million was spent on legal fees alone while Brad offered Angelina $100 million.
2. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren: the couple separated ways in 2010, six years after their wedding. Nordegren reportedly demanded full custody of the children and 750 million dollars.
3. Michael Jordan and Juanita Vanoy: after divorce in 2002, Vanoy reportedly received $168 million divorce settlement. The couple were married for almost two decades.
4. Rupert Murdoch and Mary Torv: married for 31 years and have three children. Torv is rumoured to have received $1.7 billion. Both parties seemed to have moved on quickly as Murdoch married Wendi Deng 17 days after the divorce, while Torv married William Mann six months after according to Economic Times.
5. Jeff Bezos and MacKenzie Bezos: in April 2019, Amazon, the world’s biggest online retailer, said in a filing that 4% of its outstanding stock or 19.7 million shares would be registered in MacKenzie Bezos’ name after court approval of the divorce. The announcement of their divorce raised concerns that Jeff Bezos could wind up with reduced Amazon voting power or that he or MacKenzie would liquidate a large position.
It comes as no surprise that the $38 billion divorce settlement placed MacKenzie in the 4th spot on Forbes’ women billionaires list.
The likely cost of Bill and Melinda Gates divorce settlement has not been disclosed yet, however, it could likely be the most expensive.
