Nigerian Judiciary Lauds Approval of The Establishment of New Court of Appeal in Abeokuta, Ogun

Justice Majekodunmi, Justice Dipeolu and Governor Abiodun

The Federal Government has approved the establishment of a new division of the Court of Appeal in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Governor Dapo Abiodun explained that this development will bring justice closer to the people, improve efficiency, and ease the heavy workload on the Ibadan division. Ogun State Chief Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, described the approval as a long-awaited milestone, noting that over 85% of the state’s appeal cases were previously handled in Ibadan. The state government has also pledged to provide the necessary infrastructure and support for the smooth operation of the court. This new division is expected to ease the travel burden for litigants and lawyers while decongesting the Ibadan Appeal Court.
