Sonaref chairperson, Joaquim de Sousa Fernandes, on Monday stated that against the 300 tons of gasoline currently produced in the refineries, there would be a massive increase in production resulting in a gasoline output of 1200 tons by the end of 2021.

The Luanda refinery heads admits that the completion of this initiative is due to a joint project between the National Fuel Company of Angola – Sonangol, E.P and the Italian oil company ENI. The partnership agreement includes setting up another refinery unit for gasoline in Angola. With apt survey, this would reduce the market deficit by 20 percent.

The manager spoke in a press conference informing the public that the new production unit is already in its planning phase, hopefully, in the next few years, the contract would be awarded and this project would be moved to its construction phase.
