#ArewaMeToo: Let Our Ladies Breathe, Sexual Harassment Is Not A Personality Trait.

The recurring stories told about sexual harassment in Nigeria mostly on the female gender has become a feature in our everyday news and holds more water than we supposedly thought it could. Women are not objects that should be manhandled and their consent should be held as important as it was originally made to be.

Sexual Harassment is so entrenched in the nation that it has become a social fabric that taints our national image. Loudly, and sometimes in pin drop silences, women are fighting these battles against their abusers and these perpetrators escape penalties for their disgusting actions.

Recently, the Northern ladies have been crying out with a hashtag, #ArewaMeToo, spilling the sad reality their existence has to experience all because a particular gender has chosen to be dogs. This movement is a welcome development in the Northern part of our country where the interest of the girl-child is never put into consideration. We cannot continue like this. This madness must stop and the perpetrators must be put out to face the wrath of the law.
