Crisis In Haiti Worsens, Requires Urgent Global Humanitarian Intervention

The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, has arrived in Haiti to address the country’s escalating humanitarian crisis. Haiti’s population is facing soaring needs, with nearly 6 million people requiring vital aid and over 1.3 million internally displaced due to rampant gang violence. The UN’s global appeal for Haiti has received less than 12% of the $908 million needed to save lives. Fletcher is scheduled to meet with affected communities and front-line responders to assess the situation and rally international support.
