Former POTUS Barack Obama made an unusual public criticism recently of his successor POTUS Donald Trump. Barack described current President of The USA’s decision to abandon the Iran nuclear deal as “misguided” and a “serious mistake.”
“The reality is clear. The JCPOA is working,” Obama said in a statement, referring to the deal he and his administration brokered in 2015. “That is a view shared by our European allies, independent experts, and the current US secretary of defense.”
“That is why today’s announcement is so misguided,” he added. “I believe that the decision to put the JCPOA at risk without any Iranian violation of the deal is a serious mistake.”
The JCPOA is the agreement between the P5+1+EU and Iran on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is the culmination of 20 months of “arduous” negotiations. In May 2018, POTUS Donald Trump signed a decision to exclude the USA from further participating in the JCPOA. “The Iran Deal was one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.” -President Donald J.
