Former first female to hold the office of both  Minister of Finance and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Nigeria, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,  is apparently making greater strides than her already global high status as she has now gained a sit on the board of social media giant, Twitter Inc. She was appointed alongside Robert Zoellick as new independent directors with immediate effect, as confirmed by Twitter on Thursday.

The Executive Chairman of Twitter, Omid Kordestani stated that,“Ngozi and Bob are distinguished leaders with unparalleled global perspective and policy expertise,” “We are confident they will be incredible assets to Twitter as we continue to focus on driving transparency and making Twitter a safer, healthier place for everyone who uses our service.” The Executive chairman mentioned that Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala would be a great asset for the company as it works towards transparency in its operations globally.

Mrs. Okonjo- Iweala responded with excitement stating that,  “Twitter is a powerful platform that continues to be used as a strong connector for the global community, and I ’m thrilled to be a part of the team. “As we strive to build a better world for tomorrow, Twitter can amplify messages and drive critical conversations around today ’s most important issues. The former Minister who serve in ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, also published her newest book “Fighting Corruption Is Dangerous: The Story Behind the Headlines” which gained global attention for its controversial political content.
