MTN Nigeria (MTNN.LG), Airtel Africa (AAF.L), and Mafab Communications have been selected by Nigeria’s telecoms authority to bid for 5G licenses in an auction slated for December 13, Nigeria’s telecoms regulator announced on today.
In July, the Nigerian Communications Commission said that spectrum for the next-generation 5G network would be auctioned in the fourth quarter of this year.

What you need to know about the 5G network?
The fifth-generation mobile network is referred to as 5G. After 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, it is a new global wireless standard. 5G allows for the creation of a new type of network that connects nearly everyone and everything, including machines, objects, and gadgets.

5G wireless technology is designed to provide multi-gigabit per second peak data speeds, ultra-low latency, greater dependability, huge network capacity, increased availability, and a more consistent user experience to a larger number of users. Higher performance and efficiency allow for new user experiences and industry connections.
