Nigerian Billionaires: Who Is Indimi Mohammed Of Oriental Energy?

Mohammed Indimi is a Nigerian based businessman from Maiduguri, Borno State. He is also a founder of many successful indigenous companies and co-owns and sits on the board of several privately owned companies encompassing all sectors of the economy. Indimi is a devout humanitarian and a philanthropist who has received numerous awards of appreciation and excellence as well as honorary doctorate degrees from notable Universities in Nigeria, Ireland, and the United States.

Indimi founded Oriental Energy in 1990 and has since expanded the company’s assets across international boundaries. In the year 2014, Forbes listed Mohammed Indimi as Africa’s number 37th richest man with a net worth of $670 million.

Unlike some of the other successful Nigerians today, Mohammed Indimi had a deprived childhood and no access to any form of formal education. He is an exact example of “from grass to grace”. Everything he is and has today, he worked hard to garner. According to him, “even as an unlettered person by Western standards, I still supervise people with masters and PhDs who are working in my organization. As a matter of fact,  if any of my employees wants to approach me with any project proposal or some kind of memo or presentation, they have to be well-prepared and make sure they did their homework well because they know I will definitely point out any error therein”.

At the moment, Indimi is an inlaw to quite a number of successful Nigerian families including the current President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari and ex-NNPC chairman, Abubakar Yar’adua.
