At an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America on Tuesday, 1st of May, President Muhammadu Buhari mentioned that his meeting with the US president only consisted of discussions of the issues of mutual interests to both countries. In expressing concern about what was being told to the U.S President about the killings in the country, President Buhari stated ; “No agreements, just discussions. The first one is the information being given to them that Christians are being killed in Nigeria, but what happened in the Church also happened in the southeast and the North and they just say it is herdsmen that are killing them.”
President Buhari, also affirmed that President Trump recognized the importance of the war against terrorism that Nigeria was conducting and had duly authorized the sale of military equipment to Nigeria. As reported by Nigerian Tribune, the Nigerian president met with his U.S counterpart at the White House on Monday, April 30.
