Born in 1963, Owasanoye graduated with a second class upper degree in Law from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University of Nigeria) and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He then proceeded to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 1986 where he began his career as an Assistant Lecturer. While there, Owasanoye acquired a master’s degree in Law and became a Professor of Law at age 38. The below are the top 3 achievements of Bolaji Owasanoye:
1. In 2017, he became the new Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC; following a nomination from Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo.
2. For years, he served as Executive Secretary of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC); at one time assisting to re-coup Nigeria’s stolen wealth lodged in foreign nations.
3. He is a Pastor at Aso Villa Chapel in the State House Abuja (Official Chapel of The Presidency of Nigeria). This speaks to why he was nominated by The Vice President in Achievement #1; as the Vice President of Nigeria is also a pastor.
