Nigeria is one of the fastest growing economies in Africa today, despite the lingering political and economic instabilities many industries are still thriving. Since the economic recession, many industries have spiraled down even leading to the withdrawal of many foreign investors. However, there are some industries which have not been shaken by the economic hardship and pitfalls, despite some of them being unconventional types of business they are the most profitable and lucrative business in Nigeria’s economy today. Here are the top 3 most profitable industries many Nigerians are turning in major profits from:

  1. Religion: Religion in Nigeria is more focused on profit-making and wealth creation most especially within the Christian community today. Churches are no longer built for the sole purpose of worship anymore as most churches are now run like companies. Most Nigerian billionaires today are church leaders and pastors such as Pastor Adeboye of Redeem, Pastor Oyedepo of Living Faith Church, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy, and many more who own private jets and other assets around the country. It suffices to say religion is one of the most profitable industries in Nigeria.
  2. Government/Politics: It is obvious that Nigerian politicians are among the wealthiest group of people in Africa, with Nigerian Senators earning one of the highest paying salaries in the world. Many of these politicians own thriving companies and businesses stemmed from the accrued wealth from their political activities. Nigerian government and politics is the strongest and most profitable sector in the country so far.
  3. Real Estate: The real estate industry has been one of the longest thriving industries in Nigeria which have managed to remain profitable over the years. With new technology, the real estate industry has continued to transform and become more lucrative.
