Africa is home to many of the most underdeveloped countries in the world still often regarded as “third world” countries, which was a term used in describing countries with colonial pasts and slow development mostly in the post-colonial era. Most of Africa’s underdevelopment has been blamed on colonialism and corrupt political leaders. However, what has never really been deeply considered is the fact that Africa’s underdevelopment can also be attributed to the laziness and lack of collective minds of Africans, leaders, craftsmen, traders, institutions, culture and the wider society to arrive at the point of seeing, sensing, knowing, wanting or acting on the things that put together or form what we know as a developed society. Here are 3 particular reasons why Africa’s underdevelopment can be attributed to just plain laziness:
- African countries are deeply rich in mineral and natural resources which was mainly what attracted the colonial masters in the first place. Today, those colonial masters are gone but yet African countries still do not know what to use these many rich resources for, which other foreign countries continually come to collect freely.
- With the many available natural resources, African countries still rely on other foreign countries to process these resources which they in turn export back to the African countries for gain.
- Reduced enthusiasm is another factor which has been medically proven to be also caused by the excess intake of starchy foods. It is a well-known fact that the most commonly consumed food in many African countries which are rice and cassava are made up of a high concentration of starch.
