Africa’s Best 2018: Top 5 Airline Companies In Africa

This list comprises of two northern Africa companies, two eastern Africa companies and one southern Africa company. It is unfortunate that no West African company is listed on Olatorera Consultancy’s 2018 list of Best Airlines in Africa. Air Nigeria had huge potentials. Arik Air made great strides almost a decade ago when they initiated direct flights to New York and London. Arik Air still has notable potentials but have been limited by corruption and the recent economic recession affecting Nigeria’s growth. The following 5 airlines have been around for over a decade and are growing annually. South African Airways (SAA) made the list although the government-owned company seems to be experiencing economic setbacks similar to that of Nigeria’s. In 2018, SAA celebrated 20 years of business despite rising debt and huge losses year-over-year. It remains a well-recognized airline with potentials to be Africa’s foremost pending privatization or a huge turnaround. Royal Air Maroc, Also government-owned is first on the list as the company continues to transport Africa and African goods internationally. The service is great and the fares affordable. Kenya Airways, second on the list, is one of the oldest and most stable airlines in Africa having been in operations for over 4 decades. Egyptair third on the list, has great routes, also very affordable and great business class prices. Egyptair also offers free accomodation for overnight stop overs in excess of 10 hours.  Rwandair, fourth on the list is rapidly making Africa proud with new aircrafts, great service and on-time departures.
