1.Crushed Rock, Mpape, Abuja
Crushed Rock is an abandoned quarry located in the capital of Nigeria. It was opened in 1977 after the decision to relocate Nigeria’s capital from Lagos to Abuja. During the 1980s the quarry provided much of the stone for the construction of the new city. It has been abandoned since at least 2010. The quarry and quarry lake are now a popular tourist and picnic spot. The lake and high cliffs make it an attractive hiking location.
2. Lekki Conservation Centre, Lagos
Lekki Conservative Center is one of the best and most visited resort centre in Nigeria. The conservation and relaxation center is a scenic area that offers tranquility. It has the longest copy walkway in Africa which enables visitors to see monkeys, crocodiles and various birds. You get to see the famous giant Tortise and explore the nature park.
There is a tree house as well, which is a twenty-one meters-high tree platform where one can have a panoramic view of the area.
3. Jabi Lake, Abuja
Jabi Lake is a water body formed from a man-made earth dam that was initially created to provide water to the residents of Abuja. It is about ten minutes drive from the city centre. There is a recreational park called Jabi Park and a mall- Jabi Lake Mall which houses Shoprite and other stores, beside the Lake.
4. Ngwo Pine Forest & Cave, Enugu
The forest was initially planted to combat erosion but now oft-visited for picnics and other recreational outings. The forest is also home to a limestone cave at the centre, sculpted with a small waterfall by its side that falls into a pool. It is an ideal place for hiking, sports or nature photography.
5. Agodi Park, Oyo
Agodi Park is also called Agodi Botanical Gardens,located in the ancient city of Ibadan. The picnic centre boasts of a water park, zoo, playgrounds, picnic open grounds and a restaurant.
