Gender equality is seeing males and females as being of equal status and value. It is judging a person based on their merit, and not viewing them as inferior or superior purely based on their gender.

Despite the United Nations Millenium Development Goal (Goal 5) to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls, the battle for gender equality is still not won. Gender Equality is a human right, but the world faces a persistent gap in having equal power and opportunities for men and women. Statistics show that women have fewer opportunities for economic participation than men, less political representation and also less access to basic and higher education. To attain Gender Equality, we must first tackle our unconscious biases, that men are more superior to women.
Empowering women and girls will increase productivity which will, in turn, increase the GDP of the country. The World Bank Report shows, only six countries currently give women and men equal rights and following the calculations, women won’t achieve full equality until 2073.
