How Has First Lady Of Burundi For 14+ Years Impacted Burundians?

Over the past 14 years as Denise Bucumi served as first lady of Burundi, the country has remained very poor. French-speaking Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world with a poverty rate of over 88%. Less than 2% of Burundians have stable electricity.95% of Burundians are religious. Religion provides temporary peace and hope. Religion with no food and no growth can result in war and manic deeds. First lady Nkurunziza needs to move away from “preachative” ordained christian minister to minister of Agriculture to make any worthy impact before 2020. Agriculture, despite underdeveloped in Burundi, employs over 80% of Burundi’s 11 million population. A former colony of Germany and later Belgium, Burundi is close to now-growing Rwanda.
