Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison is the fifteenth and incumbent Governor of the Bank of Ghana who previously held the position of the bank’s Director of Research from 2003 to 2011. Ernest Addison is a renowned Ghanaian economist who also worked at the African Development Bank AFDB as a Lead Economist at the AFDB’s Southern African Resource Centre in Pretoria, South Africa before his appointment as the Governor of the Bank of Ghana in April 2017, which has gained him automatic membership on the board of several agencies of the Ghanaian government such as the IMF, Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems Limited (GHIPSS) and the Ghana Cocoa Board.
Ernest Addison has also served in other prominent roles such as the Chair of an ECOWAS Task Force set up by the Authority of Heads of State of ECOWAS to perform feasibility studies finalizing the creation of the West African Monetary Institute, and subsequently as the Chief Economist with the West African Monetary Institute from 2000 to 2003.
