Hakeem Muri Okunola rang in the new year as the youngest person to ever be appointed as Head of Service for Lagos State, Nigeria. Not so young, Hakeem Muri Okunola is 47 years old as of January 2019. Popularly known as HMO, Hakeem Muri Okunola is son to the well known late Justice Muritala-Okunola. Hakeem previously served as Permanent Secretary, Youths and Sports Ministry. Prior to that, he served as Permanent Secretary for the Lands Bureau Ministry under former Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Hakeem Muri Okunola has a Bachelor’s Degree (LLB) in Law from the University of Lagos. He complete the mandatory Nigerian Law School in 1995. He is brother to Rasheed Muri Okunola, another politician in Lagos State. The political ambitions of the Muritala-Okunola boys have been supported mostly by Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
