
During the first year coronation anniversary of the Oniru of Iruland, Oba AbdulWasiu Gbolahan Lawal, he honoured three foreign nationals and nine other eminent Nigerians with various chieftaincy titles for contributing to the economic development of Iruland. One of which included Michael Tawadrous, who was titled, “Taieyeshe of Iru Kingdom.”
Michael Tawadrous, Egypt-born, is a passionate entrepreneur and Chairman Executive of VAVA Furniture, a leading global furniture manufacturing company. He is a passionate and accomplished entrepreneur who is determined to redefine quality and customer service.
As a child, Michael had passion for trading and always looked for opportunities to make more money and invest it. As a result of this, he studied Commerce at University of Assuit in Egypt. Also, he holds an MBA in Business Administration and General Management from Western Ville University, San Diego and an MBA from Lagos Business School.
In addition, he obtained a diploma in International Arbitration and International Relation from University of 6th October, Egypt and University of Liverpool respectively.
Upon his graduation from University of Assuit, he received an offer to work in Nigeria as a showroom manager in one of the furniture companies. Although his family advised against moving to Nigeria, he took the bold step and came to Nigeria in 2007 and worked with the organisation until he founded his company, VAVA Group which today, has grown to be a furniture manufacturing company. VAVA Furniture is in 11 different location and has factories servicing each location.
Furthermore, Michael Tawadrous is a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Ambassador. He is also a special envoy of World Fund for Development and Planning (WFDP), United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa in Nigeria and official representative at the United Nations for the Intergovernmental Organization Executive Committee.
