Mobolaji Johnson was the First Military Governor of Lagos State in 1967.
In 1966, after the abortive Coup d’etat that put an abrupt stop to the first civilian administration, he became the Military Administrator of Lagos State. Brigadier Mobolaji’s tenure as Military Governor of Lagos State saw the building of major infrastructures in Lagos State such as the 60.7-kilometre international express road (Lagos–Badagry Expressway) linking Nigeria with the neighbouring countries Benin, Ghana and Togo, Eko Bridge, Third Mainland Bridge to mention a few. Within one year of his administration, built five government colleges.
Mobolaji Johnson was first appointed by Aguiyi Ironsi as the administrator the former federal territory of Lagos in 1966. He was involved in developing the civil service in Lagos State.
He retired in 1975 as a Brigadier with full honours. After leaving the Army, he ventured into private business, in 1979 he became the Director of Julius Berger.
Mobolaji Johnson is currently the Chairman of Nigerian Conservation Foundation and Chairman Executive Council of Lagos State University Development Foundation.
