Most people recognize one of the world’s top billionaires Bill Gates as the brains behind the giant Microsoft Technology Company but what most people don’t know is that Bill Gates did not create Microsoft alone. 65-year old late Paul Allen is the other of half or rather co-founder of the technology Giant that was established in 1975, who possesses 100 million shares in the company and was the one who came up with the initial name of the company “Micro-Soft”.
Paul Allen who recently passed away from complications of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in Seattle Washington Dc, was an American business magnate, investor and philanthropist who managed his various business and philanthropic efforts. He had a multibillion-dollar investment portfolio including technology and media companies, scientific research, real estate holdings, private spaceflight ventures, and stakes in other companies as well as two professional sports teams. He founded several scientific institutions and gave more than $2 billion to causes such as education, wildlife and environmental conservation, the arts, healthcare, community services, and more, among which gained him numerous awards and honours in several different professions, and a spot on the list of the Time’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2007 and 2008.
Although Allen left the company in 1982 after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, he kept his own shares of the company after failed attempts of Gates to acquire them. As at the time of his death, Allen was ranked as the 44th richest person in the world on Forbes’ 2018 list of billionaires with an estimated net worth of more than 20 billion dollars.
