Nigeria’s Ogun State native, Ibikunle Amosun, is a career politician who served two terms as Senator and two terms as Governor of Ogun State. With over 20 years of experience in full-time politics, Ibikunle Amosun wields influence at both the federal and state government levels in Nigeria. His first term as a senator was from 2003 to 2007 after which he campaigned to be governor of Ogun State and lost to Governor Gbenga Daniels. Amosun then contested again in 2011 and won. This time he was prepared to have a stronghold politically. He served two terms then proceeded in 2019, to serve his second term as Senator until 2023.
Many allies speculate that Amosun will campaign again for a third term seat as a Federal Senator representing Ogun State. The build up leading to the 2023 elections in Nigeria has been very turbulent for national leaders; from Covid-19 pandemic to End SARS Protests to the subsequent End SARS massacre. Many Nigerian citizens remain hopeful for progressive change.
