Uche Lilian Ekwenufe born 1970 is a Nigerian politician. She currently serves at the Nigerian Senate representing the people of Anambra Central Senatorial district. She is regarded as one of the most active female senators in the house.

Prior to her career in politics, Ekwunife had a career in banking where she rose to be an area manager. She holds a B.Sc degree in Business and Accounting from University of Calabar and an MBA degree from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2002.

Anambra Gubernatorial Election

Uche Ekwunife joined the governorship race in Anambra State after two unsuccessful attempts. Having expressed optimism that she would clinch the party’s ticket, she stated that she will remain in the party even if the primary election does not go in her favour.

According to her, she would reform the security architecture and empower women if elected as the governor of the state. “I will partner with security agencies to make sure they are equipped with sophisticated weapons”, she said.
