Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, lawyer and a close aide of Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Mr. Giwa-Osagie was arrested on Monday 18, 2019 for alleged money laundering.

Mr. Giwa-Osagie was arrested when the money discovered with a notorious BDC owner, Alhaji Usman, was linked to him. Alhaji Usman is based in Lagos state, he was caught ferrying $2million by air from Abuja to Lagos which was intercepted by the EFCC. This money is suspected to have been budgeted for vote-buying or used as settlement ahead of the coming elections.
