Dr Obadiah Mailafia is a progressive Nigerian and former Deputy Governor of The Central Bank of Nigeria. As a leader, former banking executive, former University professor and passionate citizen, he is aware of many of the economic and political challenges engulfing Africa’s most populous nation. In 2020, he started speaking out to encourage change and development. His acts strongly applauded by well-meaning Nigerians, as should be in any progressive society with good leadership. It’s extremely unfortunate that he is indicating that he is being tormented by the current political class. Under Buhari and APC Leader, Tinubu, citizens continue to cry out about their rights being trampled upon. Several cases are being reported on social media with video evidence. One such is:

Many citizens have alleged that they are being illegally detained across the nation for activities such as protesting peacefully or speaking up against government actions. Several cases of private properties being seized and demolized illegally are noted across the internet from citizens who are unable to afford costly Judicial processes. Corruption is currently at a very high peak across many federal and state ministries. Nigerians must rally around and fully support in every way possible, any citizen whose rights to freedom, speech, expression etc, are being illegally limited.
Professor Obadiah Mailafia’s Heartbreaking Speech:
“I spent over 20 years of my working life abroad as a university teacher, banker and international civil servant with unblemished record. I have no criminal record not even a parking ticket. Sadly, it is in my own fatherland that I’m being subjected to criminal investigation and such extreme political persecution. Please, pray for me. I have reasons to believe that my life is in danger and that some powerful political forces want to silence me forever for speaking the truth. “For speaking on behalf of the holy martyrs of thousands of innocent children, women, elderly and youths that have been killed in our beloved country. It is only in our benighted country that a man who speaks from his conscience can be hounded like a common criminal. I’m a believer in nonviolence. Please, no-one should throw even a little stone on my behalf. “
The suffering is enough. Mailafia, must not lose hope or his life, mailafia should not feel endangered in his own country, Mailafia has every right to speak freely. Mailafia deserved to be compensated and granted justice for every second of his time spent communicating with DSS and other agencies against his will. Nigerians must collectively cry out for justice now. We have lost millions of hard working, progressive citizens to other countries. How many more good citizens will we lose to bad leadership before we demand change and progress?
