Nigeria’s resident doctors have suspended their five-day warning strike, granting the Federal Government an additional two weeks to meet key demands. The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors confirmed that while some issues, including partial payment of the 2025 Medical Residency Training Fund, have been addressed, unresolved matters such as salary arrears, allowances, and welfare gaps remain. The strike, which disrupted services in public hospitals, left consultants and other staff overstretched. NARD warned that failure to honor commitments within the ultimatum could prompt a broader nationwide action, further straining Nigeria’s fragile healthcare system and worsening patient access to essential services.
