Angela Dorothea Merkel is a German politician who has been serving as the Chancellor of Germany since 2005 and leader of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) since 2000. She has twice been recognized by Forbes as the second world’s most powerful person and the world’s most powerful woman twelve consecutive times.
