Ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo is no doubt one of the high and mighty who holds the rings of power in Nigeria and Nigerian politics. Nigerians have become agitated over President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and as a result, most Nigerians are indecisive as to who to vote into power in the coming elections. The opinion of the “dominant coalition” or “opinion leaders” in Nigerian politics- where Obasanjo is a powerful member might directly or indirectly come in handy during the forthcoming 2019 elections.
Allegedly, former President Olusegun Obasanjo seems to be backing his two allies, former governors of Jigawa and Kano, Sule Lamido and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
However, Obasanjo has publicly stated that he has no preferred presidential candidates for the forthcoming elections but prefers to remain an elder statesman with a passion for greater Nigeria.
The ex-president, however, warned Nigerians against repeating past mistakes saying the process and system that would produce leaders in the country must be right and inclusive. He also urged Nigerians to do things differently and stop being foolish, adding that new things would be achieved if things are done differently.
