Nigeria Decides 2019: What’s Next For Young Presidential Aspirants Kingsley Moghalu, Fela Durotoye and Omoyele Sowore?

February 23rd was a highly anticipated day for millions of Nigerians. Several proactive citizens vowed to vote against all odds. The recession of Muhammadu Buhari’s governing era led to many more citizens jumping into political ambitions. 3 candidates stood out: they were young and they had relatively good digital media traction. Kingsley Moghalu, Omoyele Sowore and Fela Durotoye sought out presidential ambitions during Nigeria’s 2019 elections.

Results pouring in on February 24th, 2019 indicate that neither of the above mentioned candidates had any traction whatsoever with votes. Majority of voters focused their presidential votes on the top 2 candidates from the top 2 political parties: Current President Muhammadu Buhari of APC and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of PDP.

With Minimal Votes And Zero Chances Of Winning What’s Next For Kingsley Moghalu, Omoyele Sowore and Fela Durotoye?

  • Kingsley Moghalu – we predict he would write a book and most likely travel back to the USA and continue teaching at Tufts University USA. We dont foresee Moghalu joining PDP or APC to seek a political appointment.
  • Omoyele Sowore – we predict he would continue running Sahara Reporters in his quest to enhance governance in Nigeria. We also predict he would re-run in 2023 but reduce his ambition to that of state-level position.
  • Fela Durotoye – we predict he would quietly seek out a political appointment with APC or PDP. Otherwise, he would continue “motivational speaking”.
