The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday commented that the visit of British Prime Minister, Theresa May, has exposed the incompetence of President Buhari and the low-level leadership the country has been degenerated to. The aggrieved Party lamented President Buhari’s inability to productively engage the British Prime Minister, thereby directly limiting the nation’s opportunity to harness maximum economic dividends from her visit before leaving the shores of the country. The PDP expressed deep concerns regarding the President’s lethargic behaviour to also assemble a competent economic team to engage the British leader and why he has still not considered it expedient to gather a team for strategic engagement with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who’s scheduled state visit is expected.
This event seems to be like a sequel to the President’s visit to the United States to meet with President Trump, where he showed less enthusiasm to negotiate trade benefits for Nigeria, and was more interested in keeping up appearances for the media and trying not to annoy the US President by keeping quiet on the vulgar remarks made towards Africa. Perhaps, Nigeria’s current administration is asleep and in need of an awakening, and the PDP, although with strong ambitions to snatch the government in the next election has certainly not relented in waking up the federal government.
