A faction of Nigeria’s ruling party appears to have rebelled against the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as it has declared that it no longer supports President Buhari’s administration. The All Progressive Party (APC) is now split due to this, threatening the president’s hopes of a securing a second term in 2019 upcoming election.
This faction made up of politicians who were part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) confirmed at a news conference in Abuja late on Wednesday that they have now formed a new faction called ‘Reformed-All Progressives Congress (R-APC)’, led by a former ally of the president, Buba Galadima. Galadima, who is now the national chairman of the R-APC, said, “The APC has run a rudderless, inept and incompetent government that has failed to deliver good governance to the Nigerian people,” and mentioned that the new faction is the authentic representatives of the APC. This makes us wonder if this uprising is a genuine display of the tiredness of this group of politicians of the cruelty and hardship brought by this government or just a show of rebellion which will not last long.

Few years ago, Buba Galadima was a staunch Buharist who strongly hated PDP while Gulak used
to be a staunch Jonathanian/pro-PDP. Today, it is the exact opposite— Buba Galadima
is now pro-PDP and a strong hater of PMB/APC while Gulak
is now pro-APC and a huge Buharist.
