A Nigerian property company, Persians will be taking over Shoprite local business in Nigeria as the South Africa retailer decided to retreat from othe African Markets. In August 2021, Shoprite announced that it will be exiting Nigeria after 15 years of doing business.

With more than 2,300 stores across Africa in Shoprite, the company is waiting for approval on the sale of its operations, though no further details have been disclosed.
While further details of its exit plans hasn’t been given, the announcement has created series of feud between Shoprite and its employees causing them to shutdown major outlets at different times and protesting.
The protests is to speak against the unfavorable working conditions and uncertainty of their employment status amidst the takeover by a new owner. This has forced staffs to demand a payoff for their years of service.
