Speech on Educational System #SexForGrades Scandal by Olatorera Majekodunmi-Oniru on Arise TV

Our focus today is on the hashtag #sexforgrades.

Every now and then, a bad apple sneaks up into communities and institutions of great apples. Many times, the bad apple is weeded out as great establishments forge forward on their vision and mission built on smart work, ethics and rigor. But what happens when the bad apple created the institution, or leads the institution or was raised by a rotten apple under a laundered image creating a cycle of bad apples? What happens when bad apples live a pretentious fake life, are in charge of the laws of the institution, recruit other bad apples and establish a system in disguise of rotten apples from top to bottom and from bottom to top. Well, such environments hurt, damage and sometimes kill many humans behind the scenes. It happens all around us. People in positions of power are offering sexforgrades, sexformoney, sexforanything to anybody including forbidden minors.

Sexforgrades is a blatant abuse of power. And a selfish disregard for humanity. In a system with unbalanced laws and high dependency on financial powers, sexforgrades occurs everywhere and many people get away with it without a trace of suspicion while victims remain helpless. Today, we have faulty characters parading as faculty, abusing our children and getting away with it.

Every human can decipher basic rights from basic wrongs. No book needs to teach us that. If it kills, it is wrong. If it consciously torments, damages, sickens or deprives, it is wrong. Sexforgrades is wrong. Excellent, merited work for grades is right. When we begin to celebrate character and not positions, we begin to demand ethics and greater humanity. When we care more about the deliverables emerging of a position and less about honorable, governor, senator, principal, owner, Chief, Princess, only then will we be able to focus more on progressive deliverables. When a land is lawless, anyone can hold the highest position. The position is only respected when your character, your deliverables and your accomplishments speak volumes.

Concluding Speech on #SexForGrades:

Let’s unearth and celebrate genuine characters and not wealth or positions without depth. Positions are meaningless and unfruitful when tainted with faulty characters. Faulty characters in positions of power hurt multitudes upon multitudes of people. Every human deserves a good life of merited success, undamaged self esteem, peace and happiness. Meritocratic leadership and greater humanity are two keys to a better world today. Our world needs a much stronger dosage of healthy love, care and happiness.
