President Buhari, yesterday spoke during the emergency caucus meeting of his ruling All Progressives Congress(APC), he stated that the Nigeria’s police and army are under clear instructions to deal ruthlessly with election riggers. Futhermore, he issued death threats to anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or make any disturbance on the election day.

However, the President’s statement drew immediate reactions from the citizens of the country. Chief Mike Ozekhome, a lawyer and human rights activist, condemned President Buhari’s threat and described the president’s statement as unconstitutional, unpresidential and usurping the powers of INEC and the police. Was it right for President Buhari to have made that statement?
