Where Is South African Billionaire & Hotel Magnate Sol Kerzner? Why Did He Sell Sun International Resorts?

Kerzner is one of South Africa’s most successful business men and former chairman of the conglomrate, Kerzner International. The Jewish-Russian, South African Raised, Dubai Resident is known for building luxury hotels and resorts around the world from South Africa, China, Hawaii, USA, The Bahamas to Dubai.

 

Some of his most notable hotel chain establishments include Sun International, Atlantis Resorts, The One and Only Resorts, The Beverley Hills Hotel, and The Elangeni. Kerzner International, in partnership with Istithmar Dubai, is currently building the below Royal Atlantis Resort in Dubai, UAE located at The Palms Atlantis resort.

 

Through the stressors of becoming successful, in his early 50s, he once suffered a heart attack, almost losing his life. He bounced back and made the decision to completely give up smoking cigarettes. He has built over 10 additional magnificent hotels since then. In year 2010, Sol Kerzner started winding down towards his retirement. In 2012, He sold his 50% stake in Atlantis The Palm Company. In 2014, he stepped down as Chairman of Kerzner International, a company he founded and successfully built. Today, he enjoys time between his homes in Dubai and South Africa while remaining a shareholder in his companies. For someone who once suffered a mid-age heart attack, he deserves to retire, rest, relax and enjoy his hard work at old age.
