Abubakar Ismaila Isa Funtua is son to one of Nigeria’s richest men, Ismaila Isa Funtua. In 2018, Abubakar declared his intent to become the governor of Katsina State Nigeria. Making it his third attempt at campaigning for the position of Governor of Katsina State. Abubakar is wealthy and flamboyant. In 2018, he flew into Nigeria overnight, a brand new Lamborgini Aventador via Emirates from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He also goes by the name Abubakar Sama’ila Isah.

Abubakar Ismaila Isa Funtua is an accounting graduate from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Nigeria. He owns Aso Energy resources Limited and was a founding director of now defunct Modern Media Nigeria Limited. He is a shareholder of Funtua University, Bullet International and Funtua Textiles limited. Abubakar spends most of his time between Katsina, Abuja and Dubai. He is married to the President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter,
Safinatu.
