Ahmed Ali Gulak was a Nigerian lawyer, politician and former special adviser on politics to former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan.
The Adamawa born politician was shot dead in Owerri, Imo State on May 30, 2021. Reports state that he was killed on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport when gunmen intercepted the car carrying him and 2 others.
He held several positions including political adviser under the former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
In 2013, he threatened to resign if Jonathan refused to run for presidency in the 2015 elections, however, he was sacked in 2014. Following his dismissal, he resigned as the National Coordinator of the Goodluck Support Group and declared his intention to run as Adamawa State governor under the People’s Democratic Party.
A year later, he dragged PDP to court over the vacant position of the party’s chairman and later declared himself as the new national chairman of PDP at the party secretariat in Abuja. The political party denounced this and declared Uche Secondus as the acting Chairman.
In 2018, Gulak defected from People’s Democratic Party to All Progressive Congress and served as the Chairman of APC committee that conducted the governorship primaries in Imo State, in 2019.
