Ayisha Osori is a prominent Nigerian Lawyer and politician renowned for her achievements on good governance, gender equality, women’s economic and political participation and ending violence against women in Nigeria. She is also the former CEO of the Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund, a non-profit organization focused on increasing the quality and quantity of women in decision-making. Ayisha Osori was recently appointed as the Executive Director of the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) overseeing the organization’s operations in 10 African countries namely Benin Republic, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal. Ayisha Osori is also an international development consultant and has consulted for global organizations such as the World Bank, United Nations, UNICEF, and others.

 

Ayisha Osori who currently sits on the board of several public and private organizations across Africa delved into politics when she contested in the primary election for a sit in Nigeria’s National Assembly in 2014 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) but lost the election. Her defeat in politics led to the publishing of her book known as ‘Love Does Not Win Elections’ which reflects her experiences in Nigerian politics.
