35-year-old Kamissa Camara is the first female Minister of Mali appointed in September 2018 by re-elected Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita as the Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Kamissa Camara who is a specialist in African politics, particularly West African and Sahelian politics, is not only Mali’s first female minister among the 11 women of the 32 ministers in Mali’s new cabinet but also the youngest among them. Before Kamissa Camara rose to the status of minister, she served as the diplomatic advisor to President Keita.

Kamissa Camara who has an extensive background in foreign affairs and policies is also the founder and co-chair of the Sahel Strategy Forum, which provides a platform to stakeholders for the promotion of peace, security, and development across the Sahel.
