Maxim Lobaty is a Russian national and the mastermind behind the Swiss Golden investment scam that defrauded over seven thousand Nigerians of over N3 billion this year. Swiss Golden Company Limited was discovered to be a Ponzi scheme designed under the guise of a company which deals in the buying and selling of Gold Bars, designed to scam innocent investors of their money.
The EFCC which was called on to investigate the matter after it received a petition from thousands of Nigerians who complained that they invested in the company and received no returns. Through their investigation they fished out Maxin Lobaty as the prime suspect behind the scheme and two other Nigerians namely; Austin Emenike and Dickson Nonso Onuchukwu in Lagos, who were all conveyed to the Kano operational zone of the EFCC for further investigation. After much interrogation, Maxim and his accomplices consented to the refund of the investment and a total of N216, 402,565.05 has been recovered so far.
