Roland Agambire is a common name among business leaders in Ghana. He is also a close associate to former president of Ghana, John Mahama. Agambire is Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive of Ghana and Dubai-based AGAMS Holdings. He is also Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive of Ghana based ICT company RLG Communications. RLG grew into a proudly Ghanaian company manufacturing phones and laptops. In his early 30s, Roland Agambire was already considered one of Ghana’s most successful entrepreneurs and by age 35, Roland Agambire was stirring up plans to build a $10 billion tech hub in Ghana. Roland Agambire once said “I am extremely passionate about transforming Ghana into a knowledge-driven economy. My ultimate desire is to create opportunity for every African… we must also begin to explore the issue of how Ghana can begin to export services and ICT to the rest of the world”
And Now?
Roland Agambire’s increasing fortune came to a halt when President John Mahama left the corridor of power in 2017. Roland Agambire swiftly charged and arrested for tax evasion in Ghana and his offices shut down for almost a month. He has been linked to other corrupt malpractices including that related to Asongtaba Cottage Industries & Exchange Programme, the company behind the GH¢15 million Guinea fowl and GH¢33 million tree planting projects. Plans to build hope city and the tech hub in Ghana have stalled due to financial and political challenges Roland Agambire has been facing since 2017. By 2018, most of Roland Agambire’s RLG stores in Ghana had been closed down. Thousands of employees unfortunately left unemployed. He was a bullish man and we believe he would bounce back to ethically continue perfecting his dreams for a greater Africa. Roland Agambire remains married to Miriam Agambire and together they have four children.
