Health is a trending topic in modern days. More people desire to eat right, exercise and live better. Organic foods are more preferred to processed, inorganic foods. Mothers are preferring to breastfeed than cow-milk-feed. So much is changing around the world that spells a health conscious generation of proactive people who want to live longer. Bloomberg released their 2019 Healthiest Countries List in February. 27 of the last 30 countries listed are African. Out of 195 countries in the world, 165 were ranked. The non-African unhealthiest countries were Yemen, Haiti and Afghanistan.

Some of the African countries that made the list include Mali, South Africa, Burundi, Cameroon, Lesotho, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Chad, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe. With better leaders, Africa’s conditions can change from unhealthy to healthy with time. Countries like Rwanda and Mauritius are setting good examples. Living healthier requires better access to clean water, less importation especially of food/beverages and better healthcare systems.
