The award recognizes cities globally that place wellbeing of citizens at the center of urban design, planning, and policies. Under Paul Kagame’s leadership, Rwanda continues to grow as one of Africa’s Best role model countries.

Top 3 Reasons Kigali Was Shortlisted For The Global Wellbeing City Award:

  1. The 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month are car-free days in Kigali to encourage citizens to walk, run, bike and exercise.
  2. The President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, and The Mayor Of Kigali, Marie-Chantal Rwakazina, are very proactive about the health of their citizens.
  3. Public Health awareness in Rwanda is on the rise with more citizens establishing health initiatives and more knowledge on health and well-being circulating the country. Very Recently, Paul Kagame banned skin bleaching products from the country.
