Who is Aishah Ahmad? How Does She Serve As A Role Model For Women Leadership In Nigeria?

Aishah Ahmad, 42, graduated with a bachelor degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja. She attained her MBA, majoring in finance from the University of Lagos, she also holds an MSc degree in Finance and Management from the Cranfield School of Management in the United Kingdom. Mrs. Ahmad is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Aishah has a professional banking experience which pass across the NAL Bank Plc, Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc and Zenith Bank Plc. On October 6 2017, She replaced Dr. Sarah Alade who retired in March 2017 as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. Prior to her appointment, she was the chairperson of the Executive Council of Women in Management, Business and Public Service, WIMBIZ, a Nigerian non-profit organization.

Aishah is among the potential candidates in line to take over the position of Godwin Emefiele, CBN Governor. Since the eighth CBN Governor, Joseph Sanusi, no CBN Governor has served two terms, hence, the probability of Emefiele returning is slim. If the Senate approves her nomination, she will be the youngest and the first female CBN Governor in Nigeria and the first female to hold the position in Africa.
